Technical notes
Structural coordination with the terminal and services was a key constraint. We used modular planter boxes with integrated irrigation valves, and detailed thresholds for slip-resistance and stormwater management.
- Sub-surface drainage with slot drains to prevent pooling around seating pockets.
- Modular timber seating with stainless steel fixings for longevity and ease of replacement.
- Planting strategy focused on native mixes and maintenance access routes for horticultural teams.
Execution highlights
- Phased handovers to allow partial terminal operations without disruption.
- On-site mockups for paving and seating finishes to confirm textures and user comfort.
- Close coordination with airport safety, security and operations teams through all stages.
